Religious Communities
- Across Pittsburgh, there are religious institutions for a wide variety of religions, including Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, native religions from Africa and South America. Specifically, there is a significant Hindu and Muslim population in Oakland.
- Oakland is home to the largest mosque in the city, the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh, attracting 600 to 700 participants weekly.
- Other churches in Oakland, like St. Regis Church, recently have been attracting a significant number of people from the Latinx community, as well as the Pittsburgh Chinese Church for the Chinese community.
- There has been a trend across religious communities to try to increase engagement from the younger generation and immigrants as they continue to enter the city. For instance, many religious buildings have been offering services in multiple languages.
