Flannery Brothers - Radium Factory
The Flannery Brothers were the first in the US to manufacture radium, and did so from the top floor of a building in Oakland, then called the Vanadium Building, which is now the Parkland Building. The Parkland Building was so radioactive after the manufacturing site closed that it had to undergo a multimillion dollar decontamination.
